Vespertilionidae

This family, with 42 genera and 355 species is the biggest family in the world. 27 vespertilionids Bats live in Europe. The eyes are minute and the ears are usually well separated. A small point of flesh inside the ear, the tragus, helps to discriminate all those species. Some are so similar they are considered twin-species, like the pipistrelles or the long-eared Bats.
