It's wingspan reaches 46 centimeters! This specie lives in large forested areas. Only a few breeding colonies are actually known, mainly in the south of Europe. The Greater Noctule appears, a fewtimes a year, in Northern or Central Europe. In France, during the last twenty years only ten Greater Noctule have been observed. The diet, reproduction and life cycle of the largest european bat is still a mystery.
