Bourges natural history museum
Since 1989, thanks to new museological structures, it has become a scene of discovery, a scientific data bank and also a location for display and astonishment.
Permanent exhibitions developping the various fields of natural history and sciences, and temporary exhibitions complete the presentations of the museum.
There are four main sections :
" A Place for Everyone " : the diversity of the living world, the notion of species and the role of each, with preserved exotic species : lionesses, elephants, giraffe, gazelles, antelopes, parrot trees,ornithopters
" Images, nature interpreted " : an iconographical representation of nature as it has accompanied man for over 30 000 years.
Used for decorative, mythical, scientific or reasons unknown, they arethe source of dreams, objectivity or research
.. the animals in stained glass windows, the first animal photographs,live weather reports, mites on cheese rinds seen through the electronic microscope.
" The World of the Living " : from the most simple beingsto the most complex organisms, with specimens in aquariums, vivariums or preserved.
... observe market gardening ants, learn how to recognise birds of prey,how to tell the difference between a grass-snake and a viper.
" From Cosmos to Berry " : the history of the Earth: the great ages of our planet from geological times up to the present day.

The biology department studies the behavior of bats in the wild, it's now part of the international bat network.
Opening Hours(1) : 10-12 AM / 2-6 PM daily during school holidays.
