Encounters of the third kind

bats in a cellarIf you have bats in your cellar or loft, this is important information !
Perhaps you just want to know the name of your occupants?
Perhaps you would like to modify the place where the bats have set up residence so you can share the same loft?
Perhaps you are looking to prevent the droppings which speckle your loft?
Perhaps you have found a bat dead or injured?

For all these questions, there is inevitably a specialist close to your home capable of answering the questions well.

First of all consult a specialist

France, as with most European countries, has available a network of bat experts who will answer any of your questions. You can get hold of one of these by mail and, if in an emergency, by telephone or e-mail. The co-ordinator responsible for your region will put you in touch with the nearest specialist to your home who can then satisfy all your queries.

If you are having difficulties contacting any of the regional co-ordinators on the list, please contact the Museum of Bourges directly.

Before going any further you must know that . . .

-Due to their low-level of breeding, usually one young each year, bats cannot breed suddenly as rodents.
-They do not eat the glass-wool and their urine does not destroy the wood of the eaves.
-They bring no materials whatsoever in your lofts and the only sign of their presense are the small black pellets which crumble away in your fingers.
-Normally, they are only present for a few months in the year, either in summer or winter.
-All the species of bats in Europe are protected by law.
